Has anyone done that and if so have you saved money on your HOI? I was just looking into it and now they charge $150. Don't know if it is worth it. Opinions?

The state runs a program called My Safe Florida Home that gives free Wind Mitigation inspections. Here their website: My Safe Florida Home

It is TOTALLY worth it in my opinion. Most people I have heard have saved $100-500 year on their Homeowner's policies. Best of all it's free!

Thanks for the info. It is no longer free as they reached the amount of money alloted plus some. I have a guy scheduled for next week. The cost is anywhere from $50 to $150 and they are all certified.

Yeah, free inspections are no longer available but you can find pretty good inspectors anywhere in the Florida with this site: Wind Mitigation – Wind Storm Insurance Discounts and Inspections.

We had a Wind Mitigation Inspection done on a home we purchased last year, and saved about $150/year (I think, going from memory...) on our homeowner's policy. Hope that helps...

I do Wind Mitigation Inspections, make sure the individuals are licensed Contractors, I am seeing alot of Home Inspectors getting in on this field. The savings is well worth it to my clients. I also point out area where you can be saving even more money. Remember most Insurance stick you in a higher bracket, there is no knowledge of the property until this Inpsection is done. Well worth it.

Default wind mitigation

HI- I recently had a wind mitigation inspection on my house d/t insurance premium of over $2600.00/year for the past few years. My house was built in 1971- was added on to 3 years ago- and put a new rood on at that time. On our neighbors recommendation, we had a wind mitigation inspection. When our neighbors had one done, it cut their insurance premium in half. Our premium went from over 2600.00 to $1400.00/yr. Was it worth the $150.00?? You betcha!! My only regret is that we didn't look into this 3 years ago. Our inspector told us the people who are benefiting the most from the wind inspections are the one's with homes greater than 20 years old. And that most people are saving upwards of 35 % or so. Also- the inspector that we used said that when he came to our house-if he didn't feel we would save from the inspection, then he wouldn't do it or charge us. If you are in the Naples area- we highly recommend Windstorm inspections (Bob Molloy,)

Yes they are well worth the fee. I will perform the inspection and provide you with an 1802 wind mitt and pic's accepted by all insurers.

The wind mitigation inspections are well worth the cost. They save homeowners hundreds, if not thousands of dollars annually on their homeowners wind policy. Just be sure to make sure that you have a qualified entity perform your inspection, or you may end up paying someone off the street $125.00 for a worthless piece of paper.

Default Wind Mitigation Inspection

We had a wind mitigation inspection done and saved over $1,800.00. I searched the net and found prices from $150.00 to $70.00. The company we used only charge $70.00 and sent the inspector out the same day, he was very friendly and explained every thing to us. Why pay double for the same inspection ? ***MOD CUT***
