Although people use the irrelevant "more people more crime" excuse, that shouldn't be a variable in per-capita rates which is YOUR risk of being victimized. That being said, more population does lead to a more sensational newscast. Actually I don't think newscasts have ever been more sensational, both about crime and the economy...

That doesn't mean crime will go down. Less people, they're could still be more crime. It all depends. I think people are starting to settle more in Lee.

True. Houses are somewhat selling in Cape Coral. I've seen some houses on sale sell. That's not for all, and that (what I saw) was in SE area of Cape. Can't speak for the rest of Lee County.

I don't mind the mixture of races, but I don't like illegals (because they're illegal, I don't the people from other races that cause all the crime (some could be illegals as well), and I don't like the English-Spanish on EVERYTHING anymore. It's annoying. Entrance-Entrana or whatever.

A police officer was just shot in the face and killed 2 days ago in Ft. Myers. The shooter wanted to go out "miami style" and bragged about how he was gonna kill a cop. Ft. Myers has turned into a dump.. some parts.. Its better to stick lower and don't go above Estero

The shooter was from Naples! he was convicted of 20 felony charges, including armed robbery, grand theft and cocaine trafficking.
The "Miami Style" is what is destroying Southwest Florida.

Even though he was from Naples. It's still Fort Myers where it happened. I never drive around Fort Myers downtown, it is a real hood. Fowler, MLK... Dumpy. That jacka$$ should have been locked up for good a LONG TIME AGO... What is wrong with this state?????

I never thought "downtown" FM was really a "downtown" to "mill around" as much as it was a place to avoid. Once you go pass Page Field things start to look, or actually are, trashy & unsafe. Palm Beach Blvd...now there's a place I want to hang out

There is that one pretty street right but that's about it.

Other than that, "downtown" FM really isn't much when one thinks of what a downtown should be.

I left a job in Fort Myers because every night I would think "is this the day I get mugged (or worse) on the way to my car?" No thanks.

Last week a man terrorized a couple in Cape Coral in their own home. He has been charged with a spree of burglaries and home invasions. He also had "a lengthy rap sheet."

I agree, what the heck is wrong? Why do they let these repeat offenders roam our streets? The cop killer who left 3 babies ages 2-5 without a father was a known gang member. According to US Immigration, they tried to deport him, but Cuba didn't want to take him back! So we should have taken him far out on a boat and thrown him overboard.
