Can anyone tell me what would be the cheapest option to get DSL access? I've seen some advertisements for DSL only but am unsure which providers service Cape Coral (Del Prado area, 8th street)?

I got DSL from Embarq last year because it was cheaper than Comcast. Comcast does offer some cheap deals for 6 months and at times 12 months. I still use my home phone so it was cheaper for me to use Embarq. I did have a problem about a month after I got the service but they came out and fixed it. My DSL seems to be as fast as when I am at a friends house with Comcast. I didn't get the dish from Embarq tho. Heard it always goes out so I still have cable.

Ok thanks for the info. What do you pay monthly for your internet? I saw prices as high as 45-50 a month. That is ridiculous.

I did notice a lot of unsecured WiFi broadcasts in my area though so I think i'll just 'borrow' one of them :-)

My phone and internet is $50.00 not including long distance. When I looking into Comcast it would be $55 or $60 just for high speed after the special for 6 months. Don't know if they have come down tho.

I will tell everybody to just do Comcast. They may have problems, but not as bad as Embarq. My aunt had Embarq for 1 month, and it was the worst month of her internet life. The internet was constantly going on and off and on and off, and something was always messing up. She finds Comcast to be reasonable priced as well as easy and efficient. GO COMCAST, and live a happy life!

I have DSL 1.5 from Embarq. Sometimes it seems to be awfully slow. For several months I've had pretty decent service with few problems. I could get 3.0 for an extra $5 but I'm planning to move soon. My phone bill every month is $92 with all the taxes and surcharges. The internet portion is $24.95. Donna, is that $50 you mentioned the total bill? I wonder why mine is so much more. I signed up for a $50 a month package plus $15 for long distance. All those added charges make it so confusing. I've heard Comcast is much better from a lot of people.

BTW, when the cable goes out, do you also lose the internet? To quote Alec Baldwin in that Hulu commercial, "are you going to turn off both your TV and your computer? " OMG! I'd have to read a book!

Mine is for the phone (no long distance) and internet. I haven't had any problems. The last time I checked Comcast they wanted $60 for internet after the promotion fee ended.

Has anyone ever gotten Comcast to extend it's 99.00 offer after the first year? My year is up next month and I REALLY can't afford the 150.00. I hate to give up Comcast but I will have to if they are real strick on only one year at the 99 price
