So, I am coming to lehigh acres to look at a home for us this next week and am wondering after reading these posts. Most of the posts here are a year old. Has anything been done about the crime there? Is it any worse than any other city in the counry?
Thanks

If you have a choice pick someplace other then Lehigh Acres.
Not only is it a depressing place but the crime seems to be getting
out of control. It's either murders or arson.

NOT, virtually 75% of the newscasts are crime and drug stories from Lehigh, you put low low income people into homes they could not afford and they steal, turn to crime and drugs. It's the Armpit of SW Florida.
On the other hand, you can probably buy a house there for 70 grand or less now. Was 200-300 grand 3 years ago

Le High Crime Acres is an open, unflushed, overflowing toilet.

I have not heard of anything good about Lehigh Acres. Not a place I would want to move to. If you watch the news, if there is a robbery, arson, drug busts, etc you can almost bet that its in Lehigh Acres. I live in Cape Coral and I love it. You are going to get crime anywhere in the United States, but I would not live in Lehigh Acres no matter how cheap it is to get a home there. Please dont move there.

I have never been to Lehigh, but when we moved here our realtor said to not even bother looking there. She said it was one of the least desireable areas of Ft Myers.

HI I was considering looking at some homes in Lehigh area..Im seeing properties not even a year old selling for less than 40K!? Whats the catch? Just looking for a nice affordable place to relax and enjoy the weather, maybe put in a pool. Dont need schools. Is it really that lousy?

I posted this article on city-data last year.
NBC2 News - Human remains found in Lehigh Acres (http://www.nbc-2.com/Articles/readarticle.asp?articleid=18589&z=3 - broken link)

Of course, Ft Misery isn't much better.
NBC2 News - Eight skulls, skeletal remains found in Fort Myers (http://www.nbc-2.com/articles/readarticle.asp?articleid=11762&z=3 - broken link)
