NE and NW aren't that developed. It started taking off when prices started rising because land was cheaper. Now there are many foreclosed houses.

I have lived in the Cape for a couple of years now. Funny how things changed in such a short time. I came down just when things were extremely pricey here. Now, you can't give away houses. Thankfully, I am still employed and plan to stay as long as possible. I love it here and if you have a job and some level of security that you won't lose your job, there are some very good buys here. My daughter finished high school here and did very well. I had a very nice relationship with her teachers who really encourage parental participation. Just be aware of the school choice program that is here.
As with any larger city, there are some blocks that aren't so nice, but for the most part, it is very nice and I still have to pinch myself that this is JANUARY and it's in the high 70's/low 80's. No more snow, ice or cold for this gal.

Good luck!!

Check Craigslist in the SW Florida area, many nice homes with good prices in Cape Coral.

Ok so this is what I have gathered.
1. NE and NW were the "newest" areas that are now deserted due to people foreclosing.
2. They are also on well water and septic. Thats a bad thing.
3. Not much in the way of stores up there so have to travel for food, etc.
4. Schools? I have heard good and bad.

I guess that I have to come there to see what is what? The job market sounds horriffic! My wife works for Red Lobster and I have a RE licence in PA. THinking about transferring cuz houses arent selling here. WHat is the Red Lobster like?

Default nw

I think if you go you may be surprised, the northwest section is less built up than the south... however it is not desolate for example if I go to the front of my house and look 180 degrees I see about 15 houses if I look from the back of my house I see about 12 houses. The coral oaks golf course is 1/2 mile away publix supermarket plaza about 5 miles as well as the public boat launch and 3 city parks. mariner school in 1 mile... farthest area from fort myers and beaches. so probably the worst commuter location. I would say the northwest is about 33% built up as opposed to south being about 85% very minimal landscaping . almost all houses are newer and in time trees grow and because houses are affordable they will be bought up . eventually building will continue, town water and sewer will come in they will develope this end of pine island and it will look like every other area of cape coral. as far as deserted, no. the house on my right occupied on left occupied accross street occupied, behind occupied, two houses down is empty was a speculators house. but 1/2 are snowbirds and will be empty after april

Default Cape Coral area and homes

Cape Coral is actually a nice town with some very attractive communities. And now is a great time to purchase a home. The prices are down because of the economy and there are lots of great buys. ***MOD CUT***
