That was a crime of passion and had nothing to do with the crime rate. When I lived on Sanibel, someone on the beach on Captiva Island was shot to death. Yet it is one of the safest places in the country to live. I believe it was the first murder in 25 years. So, what's your point?

I liked Gateway better when it was a one way / dead end road. Now that it connects to Lehigh and the new neighborhoods tend to be right there it makes it easy access for theft / robbery (Griffin Dr.)

maybe , but point is CRIME HAPPENS EVERYWHERE! look at the teenagers that tortured those two kids and tried to burn them in the car in the cape. or the couple just dug up out of thier backyard in san carlos, compared to a bunch of air conditioners stolen in a desolate area like lehigh. i've been thru the cape and seen air conditioners missing there and even remember hearing about a few grow house there as well. crime doesn't happen much where i live either but it does happen. most criminals probally don't have 6 dollars to get there, if they did they wouldn't be stealing air conditioners/ copper wiring etc. which is a large percentage of the crime rate in lehigh

There is a lot of violent crime in Lehigh Acres. It is more than druggies just stealing copper.

Well, we could start with a corrupt city council, the back and forth UEP debacle, a draconian police force, the highest per capita property taxes in Lee county, rising utility rates, rising crime rates, falling home values, chinese drywall, did I mention the empty foreclosure houses? and massive budget shortfalls that are certain to exacerbate all of the foregoing.

Cape Coral is in full on implosion. Like watching a slow motion train wreck.

It is very, very pretty to drive over any of the bridges. But after that, ugly.

IMO. :-)
I am so happy you wrote this post, since I always feel a little guilty when I describe how I see Cape Coral because many of our members live there. The drive over the bridge is pretty and then

When I drove to the NE section to look at houses, I used Pine Island Road, so I didn't cross the Cape Coral Bridge. I was depressed before I even got there. I kept hoping to see a tree.
