I don't understand what is not to like about Fort Myers/Cape Coral. Housing is cheap. Property taxes are relatively cheap. No state income tax. Plenty to do - check out the first post on this forum. The weather is great if you don't mind hot summers. The people are so nice. I guess the job market is the biggest negative.

No accounting for what people see as desirable. You, me - we love it. Obviously plenty more of us do, too, or we wouldn't be listed as #1 in housing sales or whatever we were listed as. It ain't Miami, no, but those days are over for 52-year-old me.

That's how I feel. I am pushing 50 and the club scene just holds zero appeal to me. I don't care about fine dining or shopping, either.
