i'm 27, single and have no kids. so schooling has no impact on my decision of where to live. also, i don't intend to buy. i will have a roommate, possibly 2 and we will be renting!!!

I would definately consider Sarasota. I lived in Ft Lauderdale//Miami very busy. I prefer the city life in general and Sarasota offers all city amenities, great cutural arts and great beaches. To sum it up I think Sarasota is great! Siesta Key beach is a great place to visit if you travel there.

I have decided on Fort Myers for my destination. Thanks everyone for all the good tips. Will be living at Lakes at College Pointe, seems like a nice community. I am an RN and if anyone knows anybody that needs a nurse to work inpatient or outpatient hospice I would be really interested. I work Oncology in the hospital now and love it.

Congratulations! Rainbow girl, Nice location, real close to Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel, just under an hour from work. You have the option of coming down I-75 or down 41 to Mc Gregor, google maps says the time is the same. Sounds like just what you wanted.

i've decided on west palm beach. i'm 100% sure that's where i want to go! NOW, the question is, where do i want to live? and by where i mean what condos? i want to be close to city place, and we've decided on condos... we have a budget, and we can only afford about 1200/month for a 2 bedroom or 1500/month for a 3 bedroom!

can anyone make any suggestions for us? we really like flagler pointe, city palms looks nice but i'm thinking it's going to be WAY too expensive. it's not built yet is it? anyway, that's the type of place we are looking for but in our price range... any suggestions?

Excellent, Haley! The very, very best to you. Just remember that half the fun is the search! Remember to enjoy it!

I'm 27 and live in South Lee county. I grew up in SE FL but spent time over here once in awhile. I moved around a bit and then was in Boston (in a small town before moving to downtown) for many years before coming to SWFL.

I love it. It is either a "you love it or hate it" place. I saw some references to Sarasota, but besides St. Armand's Circle, most of the place did absolutely nothing for me and was quite boring. There are some great museums and a few places of interest but after the first weekend it was time to go home. I want laid back with fun available when I want it, not dead.

I boat and have to be near beaches and water. That is a huge draw here. Plus, if you want to head to Miami/Lauderdale it is less than 2 hours and just a little over 2 to Tampa. If you have a boat (a fast one preferably, you can be down to the middle or lower keys in a little over 2 hours).

Take a look at the areas you are interested in and make a decision. The good news is that you will be renting so that if you don't like an area, you can always try another.

Makes sense to me! Renting a house there next month. Ready to put the fleece and jeans away and I am not looking forward to getting the rake out for the mounds of leaves, either. Time for sunshine, laps in the pool and tight lines!
