Let me state that I am NOT an expert on boat lifts. But I've seen plenty of them in my day.

Any new lift will be constructed of aluminum. I seriously doubt that any contractors would go back to the old school, galvanized steel, that WILL rust after several years.

Other than that, a lift, is a lift, is a lift.

The only comparisons to be made is the brand of electric motor they're using, and (the important one, IMHO) the after the sale service, to get your lift dialed in properly for the boat you intend to put on it.

Let us know what you learn, and happy shopping......

Unless you are in a hurry to get a lift, you may want to check craigslist first. I looked for about 2 months before finding exactly what I wanted. Scored a 3-yr old 16,000 lb Dolphin lift with 1 1/2 HP motors for $2,300 (this lift new would cost $7-8,000). There are tons of 10,000 lb lifts on there for sale.
You want to make sure there are numerous grease fittings: On the gear reducers, pulleys, rotating shafts, etc... Lubrication is key.
