My dad took me to a restuarant when I visited the Ft. Myers/Cape Coral area in Spring 2008, and I'm trying to remember the name of it. I believe it was fairly new at that time. The most notable thing about it was a huge photo of the crowd at a rock concert on one wall. The room was very, very dark, and they served tapas-like things. I believe it was in a former Holiday Inn or Howard Johnson's building. The only thing I can find online that it might be is "Char", but the picture I see with google maps isn't ringing any bells.

Did Char have that big photograph?

Char is closed now anyways. I don't know if they have the photo, but they were attached to a hotel.

What about H2? I know the building they are in is a restored building about 100 years old. I don't know if it was a hotel or whatever though. They do serve tapas and every time I've been there for dinner, it's been pretty mellow with the lighting.

Here is a link to a blog post about them:

That review is over a year old.

Harold is long gone, and they've got a completely different staff and menu.

As for the building, before it was H2 it was a sleaze-pit called "Eddie Fishbowls". It was just like the Mos Eisley Cantina from Star Wars. Only less classy.

I wasn't giving him the link for the review, I was giving him the link for the photos, to see if he recognized it.

And yes, Eddie Fishbowls is a sleaze-pit. It now unfortunately resides on Cape Coral Pkwy.

We're not that lucky.

Hmmm....I wonder how long it will be until FaithfulFrank starts humping my leg in this thread, too.

From the reviews on Tripadvisor, I conclude that I was at Char Grillhouse.

My dad liked the place - clubby, dark, comfy, interesting food, plenty of meat to choose from, but not just big hunks of flesh, good bar. Absolutely not a chain or run-of-the-mill sportsbar.

So where can I get him a gift cert to that he would like? He lives in Cape Coral.

TIA
