You mean poor Democrats like John Kerry? Caroline Kennedy? Or what about all those celebrities who are accused of being "Libs?" Will Smith must be so destitute and Matt Damon or Ben Affleck probably can't pay their bills. Those poor, poor Democrats. Just FYI, if you look at a map, the bluest areas in Florida are the some of the wealthiest like Palm Beach & Broward counties.
well, you pretty much nailed it

monied by inheritance or marriage, or in the case of katchup Kerry, both, and twits who won the LA movie star lottery

I am sure you can come up with better examples of famous "working" democrats

Were you responding to me or the post below?

that's mostly because a greater percentage of republicans derive satisfaction from WORKING......many more democrats are on the dole......only happy on the 1st of the month when the checks roll in.
Mr. Cool, please explain. So everyday working people are lazy moochers waiting to get a handout?

Yes, I can, but they're not famous! LOL If I mentioned my Dad, you'd ask "Who?" That's why I thought of the others right away because their names are recognizable. Anyway, why do you think actors don't work hard or come from a working class environment? Most of them worked at odd jobs until they became famous. Letterman comes from Indiana and his father was a florist, his mother a church secretary. He's filthy rich. I don't see your logic. I can name lots of Democrats who are physicians & attorneys or people who hold political office who came from meager beginnings.

I'm guessing Tim Russert was a Democrat (although he tried to be unbiased and gave everyone a hard time!) since he worked for 2 Democrats in New York. His father was a sanitation worker. I don't think you can be any more blue collar than that. However, Russert went to college, law school and got his JD.

There's not enough room or time for me to list all of the Democrats who came from humble backgrounds, even poverty, and worked their way up the ladder. Alan Grayson grew up in the Bronx in a tenement. He's one of the most liberal Congressmen in the House. He graduated Harvard summa *** laude and went on to finish Law School. He's very rich now and still a Democrat. Then you've got someone like Howard Dean who comes from a wealthy Republican family, became a doctor and is a Democrat fighting for health reform. I don't like most of the people in Washington, including a lot of Democrats, but the 2 men I just mentioned are high on my list.

I'm sure nobody cares, but the reason most of my posts have been edited is I'm having a lot of trouble with my internet connection. I'm staying in a room with wireless that is very unreliable. If I see a typo or want to add a few words, it takes a long time to correct it. If I don't respond to someone, I'm not ignoring you. I probably just can't get back online again!

Just quit the Republican party and joined the Liberatarions. I hope more join as a strong third party with small government platform, may be what we need to bust up the politics as usual in DC. Why does everyone have to be Republican or Democrat? Think about it ..... if you want real change!

if you want real change, work rather with Nader and split the left vote, rather than splitting the right vote with the libertarians.

up here, we had a right of right-centre group break off from the Progressive Conservatives, and this kept the liberals in power for a generation.

they only got turfed out once the right reunited under Stevie, the only G20 leader that is an actual economist.

in my view, whichever side has the maturity to compromise and work together, thats the side that should rule.

split the right, well then forget about it for 20 years.

hope there is still a country left when its over

libertarianism, is indeed true, but it must be inside the tent, not outside

by the way, if you want directions to the nearest Canadian consolate to pick up your immigration application, let me know!

I would seriously consider it if Canada was a warm tropical place like Florida. Hmmm, maybe Canada and Mexico could swap territories. I found this interesting article: CBC News Indepth: Turks and Caicos

I actually thought about moving to Turks and Caicos. Beautiful place. I told my husband if this global warming keeps making thing colder in Florida ...I will move to there with or without him. Darn global warming! Sometimes south west Florida just gets too cold for me!

yes, the T&C idea has been kicking around for a few generations.

my understanding is that they are now doing fine as a tax haven, and don't need us.

that might change if the global clamp down on offshore continues

Obvioulsy you haven't been anywhere but FL during the past few years.
Are you aware that obesity is a National problem and not a local one?

Florida is not the ONLY place in the Nation where obesity, unemployment, foreclosures, un-insured, or most other thing s happen.
