Will be getting off the ferry in fort meyers in the late eve. Then look for a place to rent a car that nite so we can get to Sarasota that nite as well.
Is there a place to rent cars when you get off that ferry in FT Myers??? any hotel recomendation in Siesta Key beach or is it better to save money and stay in town more?? Were only staying a day cause we have to be in Tampa to catch a 12pm flight.
Is the beach in good condition?? someone was telling me to stay away from the FT myers beaches cause the hurricane a couple of yrs ago scewed them up and recomended to go to Seista Key Beach...... dunno

any ideas would be great

If you're getting off the ferry in the late evening and making the two hour drive up to Sarasota that night, why do you care about the condition of the Fort Myers beaches?

The rental car question has been asked before recently: //www.city-data.com/forum/fort-...l#post11429055

Siesta Beach is considered to have nicer water and sand.

incase we decide to stay in fort meyers for a nite then maybe hang there. We're still flexible at this point in our planning.

you could just stay across from the FM beach pier at the Lighthouse and sort out car rental in the morning

Maps & Directions | Lighthouse Resort Inn & Suites, Fort Myers Beach, Florida

warning though, this is more beach-rustic than the website conveys, and the parking lot will have pick up trucks and cycles rather than beamers.

some people recommend this place, which looks nice driving by (might need car to get down there, but only 10 minutes from pier)

before you go up to Siesta Key, you could spend a day, maybe go to Edison Museum or Lovers Key beach, check out the restored downtown, or check out Sanibel/Captiva, drop by Fisherman's Wharf mall in Punta Gorda on the way north or take Babcock Ranch buggy tour.
