Hey everyone. My wife and I are relocating from Ohio and have settled on charleston, SC or Fort Myers. We have researched the pros and cons of each and now it's basically down to where I can get the best job.

I'm an accountant, so Im wondering how the market for accounting/finance professionals is down there, specifically in public accounting firms. From researching firms in the area it seems there are quite a few still hiring, but I probably won't hear for a few weeks with busy season winding down.

Are there any accounting professionals on here that can give advice? Any suggestions on people in the area to contact? There seems to be far less recruiting professionals in the area compared to other cities I've researched, is this accurate? Any good ones you can recommend?

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Default Accounting Positions

I am an accountant and it is one of the few positions/industries down here that are doing OK...it really is a recession proof profession. I would definitely start the search before you move down though, but all firms, small, mid-size, are always looking for qualified people down here. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a job.

Sorry...forgot to mention that there is a Robert Half branch in town, near the airport, if you are looking for placement help.

Thank you for the reply RU.

Do you know if firms there typically do any hiring in the summer? I am hoping to get something lined up this summer, but from what I understand a lot of places don't start hiring again until the fall.
