" Cape Coral-Fort Myers is expected to be one of the weakest job markets in the nation in the third quarter.

In the survey, 9 percent of the companies interviewed said they plan to hire more employees, while 15 percent expect to cut their payrolls. Another 72 percent plan to maintain their current staffing and 4 percent are unsure of their hiring plans.
The result is a net employment outlook of minus 6%

Employers in construction, leisure and hospitality and government plan to cut their staffs, while hiring in durable goods manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, financial activities and other services is expected to remain the same. "

" Federal recovery efforts have pumped more than $213.4 million into Lee County - and that's resulted in 225 jobs, according to a government board.

But that doesn't necessarily mean 225 people were hired or even collected paychecks as a result of the spending.

"They are doing stuff with that money, but it can be difficult to tell exactly where that money goes," he said. "We want more information on what kind of jobs are being created or what services are being provided."

Lee County recovery jobs hard to pin down | news-press.com | The News-Press

This is how the financial help for the unemployed disappears! Result.. poverty, drugs, crime, unemployment and welfare become habitual. The problem is not the federal government but local councils.

Excellent post !

When federal help of $213.4 million does not get to the needy, desperation follows:

" $320 stolen in Cape Coral Taco Bell armed robbery
Jxxx was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lee County. He is being held without bond.

And he is not the only one.

Just Google Cape Coral crime and you will get a good picture of how the unemployed in Cape Coral are struggling.

Guy had priors. So do MANY of the other people listed on google. So you're painting a picture of the economy and unemployed based of people who live the life of crime?? What about the average Joe?

Ugh! Are you serious! Thank Goodness we are moving out of here soon!! I thought the Fort Myers area was a blessings to us from where we moved from before because we could afford a nice house. But in reality, the house has been slowing breaking apart, there are no jobs, and nothing significant to do or accomplish in this city! It's strange how things work out. You think on one way things are going to better for you but it turns out worse!

I wish they would put this post up as a sticky. Anyone that is not retired, or will need a job when they move down should be made to read this. Maybe we'd get less flack for telling the truth, although I doubt it.
