My husband is considering a job change to a company in Huntington. We were thinking of moving into the southern Ft. Wayne area. We have two small children and a dog. I'm looking for great schools and a nice, bigger yard. I would love a well kept house in the $250-300,000 range near parks, bike trails and other things to do with kids. I'm also looking for convenience (shopping/grocery close by) and SAFETY. Any suggestions?

Thank you!!

Well luckily with your price range and husband's job location, your search will be easy. The only logical choice would be the Southwest Side. A couple of the zip codes in the area are 46804 and 46814. The area is home to the best public schools in Fort Wayne, Southwest Allen County Schools, and is close to U.S. 24 for the commute to Huntington. There will also be plenty of homes in nice neighborhoods for that price range. The area is very safe and has a fairly good trail system. There are also many grocery stores nearby and Jefferson Pointe shopping mall is about 10 minutes away. Just out of curiosity and for comparison, where are you moving from?

I would agree. If you don't want to live in Huntington, SW Ft. Wayne is it, and you can find a real nice house in your price range.

I also agree - Out by Exit 302 of Highway 69 - off of Liberty Mills Rd. between 24 and Homestead Rd. are some great neighborhoods with everything you are looking for.
