Hello, I would like to get some opinions regarding schools within a 30 mile radius of Marion. Thoughts on the best public schools? I know that the GreatSchool ratings don't necessarily paint the total picture, but nonetheless I am concerned about the ratings I see. Education is at the top of our priority list when determining where we want to live, but don't want to live TOO far away from our jobs in the Marion area. Is there some good public school options, or do we need to consider private schools if we end up moving to the area? Thanks so much.

Given that Marion is almost 60 miles from Fort Wayne, you may get a better response in the general Indiana forum.

Daleville, Yorktown, Wes-Del and Delta are county schools in Delaware County outside of Muncie, and they are all pretty good schools, or so I've heard tell of. Marion is about 30 miles northwest of Muncie. I would guess the county schools outside of Marion in Grant County are as good as those 4 Delaware County schools. I dont know the names of the Grant County schools though. Sorry for that.

I'd stay away from Marion Schools. My husband grew up in Grant county and many of his friends still live in Oak Hill district and would agree it's by far the best option in the area. I don't think there are private school options once you get to high school close to that area. We have friends who moved to Fairmount from Fort Wayne and seriously regret doing so. Stay away from Blackford County schools. Eastbrooke used to be good, but unsure how they rate now. Unfortunately, small town America isn't what it used to be. Huntington has only one high school in the county, so it's a huge 5a school. My husband actually works in the area, but has commuted from SW Fort Wayne for 13 years. Better schools in the fort.
