As a white person, I can park down the street and walk to pick up my son from school (Whitney Young) and I don't feel as if I'm going to be shot for being white (as opposed to my home state of Oklahoma and especially in North Tulsa). Overall, it seems as if everyone coexists peacefully and are friendly. Am I right in my assessment?

Sorry to hear Tulsa and Oklahoma is so dangerous for white people. Next time I go to Indiana I'm gonna take the Southern route rather than the Midwestern route to avoid Oklahoma. Thanks for the info.

Id say your assessment is spot on. Indianapolis and The State of Indiana is like one big happy family. All the races get along marvelously with one another. Being immune to racism is one of the perks of being a bonified, certified, card carrying Hoosier.

Fort Wayne? Almost no whites here. We have 3 times the crime of New York City!

I think it depends on what area you're in and how diverse that area is. I can't speak for Fort Wayne personally, have not lived there, but I have visited a few times.

I've also stayed in Oklahoma City in the suburbs for a 30 day period, I believe what you are referring to can happen anywhere, primarily the larger and more diverse cities.

I’m not going to ever say racism doesn’t exist here. But there is not a whole bunch of white guilt here. Our city and our forefathers fought for the right side of history in the civil war. Our history is of acceptance. I know the south well. I have seen most of that beautiful part of our country. Also Oklahoma was a main reason the civil war was fought. Southerners wanted slavery to be legal there when it became part of the United States. Yet there is still a lot of pain in the hearts of the people there black and white. It is a comfortable city for all where the most of us are accepting of good people.
