If everything was fair you would see one interracial combination as often as another, sometimes you might see a black woman with a Asian man, sometimes you might see a white woman with a black man, sometimes you might see a white man with a Latina woman. As it turns out, all I ever see here are white women with non-white men. In all fairness, I occasionally see a white guy in an inter-racial relationship, but I see these examples perhaps once every two months or so. I see at least three or four white woman/non-white man couples every day I go out.

I go to Mexican restaurants I see white women with Mexican men. I go to Asian restaurants and I see white women with Asian men. And just about everywhere else I go I see white women with black men. There was even one time I went to a an old pool hall called "River City Billiards" and I and my friend were the ONLY white guys there. EVERY white woman was with a black man. It's to the point I don't even feel welcome in this town any more.

And, oh, I'm sure the white women here can't comprehend why a white guy might not like seeing this. It's not because we're racist or opposed to interracial relationships, or that we're jealous. It's because we don't like being shut-out like we are second class citizens. I've yet to meet a white woman who has the compassion to actually understand this, yet if the tables were turned I'm sure they would be singing a different tune.

I'm sure there are some people who will probably be offended that I'm bashing our city, but it needs to be bashed. Fort Wayne is a cold, unwelcoming city for single white men.

Fortunately, I've since found out that the rest of the world is not as messed up as Fort Wayne. I used to believe the world sucked. Now I realize that it's only Fort Wayne that sucks.

So if you are a young single white guy and love feeling lonely, and alienated simply for being a white guy, then by all means come to Fort Wayne. You'll love it here.

But I've had enough. I'm glad to say that I'm leaving in a few months and never have to think about this god forsaken sh**hole ever again.

This city is quite racist and I don't want to hear otherwise because I have encountered it many times in my 16 years and watched others go through it. I am puerto rican and black and I see many people in this city struggle with that. They stare at me, talk about me, and call me derogatory names such as mut or mud person. My grandmother worked at a company here for 17 years and was reated like dirt. they tried to run her over literally and ended up driving her to retire. I've been called a ****** and kroger also a man tried to attack me in the store because he said there shouldnt be mixing of races. When I graduate I will be moving to NYC where there is more people like me. DONT EVER MOVE HERE

This sounds really extreme and sorry for what happened. I somewhat agree with you though. People in Fort Wayne tend to be really ignorant about mixed race people. It's as if they thought it wasn't possible.

They really do and it's sad. Where I'm from which is the Newark, Nj and NYC area there are many mixed race people. It's nothing out of the ordinary. I wish people here would wise up. This is a different time period and things are very different. There are mixed race people. But i don't see that happening based on how I'm treated daily. Heck someone even told me I was an iraqi terrorist when I'm not even of Arabian decent, but it's ok. A more diverse city awaits me. Thank you so much sir for seeing my viewpoint

Actually, I agree and do not agree with all the post in some way. Fort Wayne actually is a nice place to live and bring up a family. If you stay in an area where all the businesses have not closed and opportunities have not been taken away. I am a black woman who tends to work around a lot of white people. Its no big deal. However, people, black and white have issues and it is behind closed doors. There have been times at a workplace, where people would be saying things racially offensive until they realized I was there. I have friends that accuse me of being white or trying to be white when doing things I enjoy...my child is bi-racial and i get remarks all the time good and bad about him being mixed...That is not a real issue. Like previous posters have said, it is worse in other places. No one is outwardly mean or hurls racial comments about, but people do tend to stereotype on both sides and its annoying. It is like someone said, it is more about ignorance and lack of being exposed to real diversity that is the issue.
I love Fort Wayne...It has its issues and it is sometimes frustrating. I would say there tends to be a lot of nepotism in the workplace, but even that is slowing down. It really is a decent place to live. I say if you like a nice size place with a small town feel, Fort Wayne is your place. If not, move away. This is not a police state where you cannot move freely from place to place. Go where you feel you will be comfortable and be done.

Racism on the job is a huge problem. Again, racism is a tool used to control. Bigots and prejudice? HELL YES! Was it nixon that said "deny deny?" Thats exactly what happens in fort wayne. Further, i dont think any caucasian has a right to say "no" when it comes to fort wayne. Racism is rarely used against whites. Fort wayne is very segregated. Even the news is jaded. The media will tell you crime is in "one area" of town. i.E. the south part. Where they keep the blacks in a little huddle. Hispanics as well. and in the wayndale area. Bull ish. Had a car stolen from my drive way on the north end of town by two white teens from Auburn. Even though they where caught the night that the stole it, the cop treated me like i was in on it. WTF? 7 months pregnant. yep. She was polite to my white husband! Lets not even get on the police force. They do not care about you depending on your zip code. As a matter of fact, they treat you like your a problem depending on your area.

Work place racism is so rampant but you would have to commission an attorney out of the town in order to pursue it. Fort wayne is an old city with old money and white folks is tight.

So sorry you have had two cars stolen in Ft. Wayne. The majority of hard crimes like murder IS on the SE side. Other crime like stolen cars occur in all parts of town in every city of size in the USA. I have lived in much more racist cities than Ft. Wayne. Mostly in the south. Also, if you think it is so bad here, you might think about moving.

Default laughable

You would be suprised. I said one car. Further, you only hear of it happening on the SE side. The crime on the north end and southwest side rarely gets reported. It is very easy for the news station to sit in a predominately black area, report the crimes and sway opinions.

LOL - I have to laugh; it would appear that there's at least one troll in this thread but at the risk of angering them by calling them out or challenging them, I'd rather just describe my own experience. Racism in Fort Wayne is nothing compared to elsewhere I've lived (Buffalo NY, NYC, Connecticut/Westchester NY area, and "many" cities/vicinities in the southern US). In the 12 years I've been here, diversity here has increased a thousand-fold, and I've seen as many interracial couples as anywhere I've been in and outside the US. If there's an issue with race, I don't see it, and I own a popular retail store where thousands of people a year come in and out of all ethnicity, and from all walks of life.
