Hi, been looking at houses online, and have seen many we like in the Blackhawk subdivision. Was wondering if anyone could tell me if that is a safe neighborhood for a family with two boys 10 and 12. Is this section in the NW or SW part of the city?

Our family will be moving to Fort Wayne in a few months, and we are very excited, but also a bit nervous to move the kids from rural Maine to the BIG city in Indiana Thanks for any info.

I believe the Blackhawk area would be in the NE portion. Not living in the area I can't answer the question about the neighborhood itself.

Do you have a job in Ft. Wayne?

The Blackhawk subdivision is in the East/Northeast portion of Fort Wayne. It is an established neighborhood with older homes, but upkept. This area and most of the neighborhoods around there are older but nice and the families in this area, for the most part, have strong morals. This would be in the FWCS district, unless you are doing private schools. Also, in this area you are in between three decent shopping areas with everything you could want. The mall is about ten minutes away, Georgetown Shopping Plaza is next door, and then the newer shopping area by I469 and Maysville Road is very nice to have. I think you will like this area.

Like I've said before, any area in Fort Wayne besides the southeast side is nice to live in.
