91.7 is the NPR second radio channel in this area--does eclectic mix
this is link to its on-air programming schedule
Schedule | KXT 91.7 | Public Music Radio for Dallas Fort Worth Denton

this is link to radio stations in TX with their programming types
Texas Radio Stations - Texas Radio Station List
some of them of course are out of our range but you can listen to any of them via Internet likely
so try out the ones in the area and see what YOU like

102.9 plays a mix of songs that I like--when I am listening to public air radio--I have satellite and listen to Cinema soundtracks channel a lot--

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you can receive it, 88.1, KNTU, plays jazz, being known as a music school and all.

While I wasn't ever a hard-core listener, even though I'm an alum, because of KNTU I found 88.5 down at that end of the dial. Mesquite Schools radio, which is 1970's top-40 done by students. Entertaining, that much is certain. I cannot receive it west of the hill down by Cedar Hill, but tune in whenever I'm able.

If you dig on classical, head to 101.1, WRR.

Commercial radio in Dallas sucks for the most part.

We're the 5th largest radio market in the country and a lot of the local talent (what hasn't been replaced by syndicated crap like "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest" and Delilah) is so bad I wouldn't even hire them for Market #150. If Gordon McLendon were still alive he'd be livid at how far radio has fallen.

That being said, re there stations that are tolerable? Yes. It depends on your musical taste.

If you can handle mostly 70s music, the best non-comm is probably KEOM, as Mckellyb mentioned.

and after this thread I have been listening to the KTCU channel--very electic and some of it not to my taste since programming is designed by college students--but some I really like...
