What do you know about living west of 35W in the Eagle Mountain-saginaw school district? Relocating and have done most of my research in the Keller area--now looking at being further west. Is this a good idea?

Saginaw has some fine areas. Not like Keller in that it is a smaller town, more blue collar feel, but my mom lives there and we have a few friends over in the Remington Point area and Remington Point Elementary has some very good points over there. Go to greatschools.com to check out the ISD and local school ratings.

part of Saginaw itself is in Northwest ISD
Eagle Mtn Saginaw ISD got good marks for teacher retention on survey I saw a year or so ago but their schools are showing lots of Acceptables vs Recognized and/or Exemplary..on the elementary level...
you can do a search on FTW forum
some people have posted comments about the district
check City Data for info about Saginaw/Azle and other towns in that area
I will PM an MLS site that has info about demographics for zip codes as well and shows school ratings for specific homes/areas

this is all relative--surely you have some reasons for starting to look west of Keller--
I would say for the money there are probably areas of the FTW area I would rank as better choices but don't really have enough info to make that call...

There are no parts of Saginaw that are in the Northwest ISD that I am familiar with. What are close to Saginaw are technically "Haslet" city limits. We were very particular about the ISD we chose, so unless they changed things in the last year or so.

We are about to start our 3rd year in EMS-ISD and have been very pleased!! We have personal experience with Remington Point Elementary...we are not zoned to the school, but heard so many great things about it, our kids are there under an in-district transfer and we couldn't be happier!!!

Check out the areas around Willow Creek Park in Saginaw. You have a good mix of different types of homes. You have everything from your custom homes on larger lots to more affordable homes...existing, newly built, or empty lots to build your own. We spent a couple of months house hunting in the Tarrant and Denton County area and always came back to Saginaw during our search. Feel free to email with any questions you may have about the area! Good luck!

The 2010 TEA ratings have EMS-ISD as a Recognized District. Both high schools are Recognized. One middle school (out of 5) is rated Acceptable and 3 Elementary schools (out of 13) are Acceptable. All others are Recognized or Exemplary

We did some house hunting in that particular neighborhood a few years back and the house prices were great, but when I did a crime map of that area, we decided against it. Not sure if it's gotten better? My advice would be to plug the address in a crime mapping system, as well as drive around the neighborhood morning, noon, and night and see how you feel about the area then. It's been a few years, it may have changed. Good luck!

We live in far North Fort Worth off of Boat Club Road. I LOVE it here, as well as the neighborhood/our development. We are closer to Eagle Mountain Lake...not the main area of Saginaw. There are definitely some nice neighborhoods here; and unlike TXbrn described, the crime in our area is relatively low. I think the crime that has happened is when people leave their cars unlocked or garage doors open...an invitation for any thief. But, I haven't heard but one incident in the last few years since we have moved here (we moved from the Park Glen area of Fort Worth near Keller).

My daughter graduated from Boswell (EM-S ISD) last year a year early...she is now in college and is doing great! She only attended Bos for less than two years, prior to that she was in Fossil Ridge in the Keller ISD area. She preferred Bos over Ridge, especially the teachers. She scored VERY high on her exit exam, except for the math...she had to test twice, and passed with flying colors on her second pass.

Good luck in your endeavor!

I'm sorry, I was specifically speaking about the neighborhood she questioned that was near Saginaw High School We actually live pretty close to where you live and absolutely LOVE this area as well! Crime is low, neighborhoods are nice, people are nice, great schools, less congestion...I could go on and go, we've really enjoyed it here!
