I hear your pain, but there are some good choices but just not close. Well we did find a great Thai place called Thaya Thai off of North Beach and 820. It is in a strip mall with Subway, just south of the exit in with Subway. It has a large lunch crowd, but just as good at dinner time and usually not very crowded. We love it!

We have had to venture over to the other part of the Metroplex for great chinese food. We really like Howard Wang's over in Preston Hollow, just north of Love Field and Empress of China in Grapevine. Lava 10 on 114 is a Thai/Sushi fusion place that is really good, hip and somewhat upscale.

Also, the definition for us for good chinese food is actual chinese people have to be working and eating there and no buffet!!

I found an area that I'd call Korean Town in Carrollton (2625 Old Denton Rd). It has a huge supermarket called H-Mart surrounded by all kinds of restaurants (Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, etc.). Not sure whether they have chinese. We also like Sweet Basil (Thai) next to Costco in Lewisville.

We like Taste of Asia. Hard to find decent Chinese here but it is really good.
