Hey guys,
My partner and I work at home---we are the electic, geeky bohemian type. I am getting very concerned about our social life--particularly finding like minded people or social groups.

I live on the west side. I have tried making friends here at the coffeehouse and the blues bar, etc., for 3 years. It is becoming very, very lonely. Now, I know it is not a personality flaw, because I have many friends in far away places---but people do not like to chat here. I have made many attempts. Now, I have no trouble in Austin having conversations---so I know it's not flawed convesation skills.

I don't have time to take classes. I am not a church--or really a bar person. it would be cool if there were intellectual or perhaps engineering groups or something cool. The art scene is cliquish---I have tried when I had a piece displayed at the museum to make friends.

Please help. We feel very lonely and disheartened.

www.meetup.com and put in your zip code. There are a lot of groups, find one that appeals to you and go!

Try Four Day Weekend...they have a show in Sundance Square.

West side is kinda further afield is all. Arlington might be an option for you...but it's a hike.

There's some places on Camp Bowie, but otherwise a lot of families or the base.
