I've been to the northeast mall twice in the 18+ months that I've lived down here, and even though Southlake Town Center, the Galleria and North Park are further away, I'd rather shop at one of those places.

Northeast Mall has too many kids. That's about the only problem I have with it. It's certainly not run down looking in any way.

And why do non-anglos shopping somewhere automatically have to mean a place is on the decline to some people?

I don't understand why the whole FW area doesn't have a good mall with a Nordstrom, and frankly I can't believe that a Nordstrom is in a mall like Northeast because I found it to be bordering on ghetto.

Because about 12 years ago, NE Mall experienced a major rennovation that kept it from going under in the 1990's. Nordstrom was part of that expansion, as well as Sak's Fifth Avenue. Whether or not the mall is on the decline again, I don't know. I don't live there anymore.

But borderline ghetto? LOL, give me a break. I'm guessing you've never been anywhere remotely near anything resembling a ghetto in your life.

Same here! It's just so much more convenient.

What's most disturbing to me is that I brought my family here from NJ to get away from this sort of mindset/thinking... And now here we go again! I suppose Hurst is the Newark (NJ) of Tarrant County? Get a grip. Some people see a few non-whites shopping and enjoying themselves and the panic sets in.

My goodness. I'm back in "armpit" New Jersey!

Ok maybe "borderline ghetto" was oversimplifying things, but anyway I don't think that mall is very safe. I've been there three times and the last time my car was vandalized; I realize that most everywhere in the metroplex has quite a bit of crime due to all of the growth, but the odds of that happening being one out of three is terrible.

I worked in North Hills Mall for 10 years and have been in NE Mall far too many times since it was built to even think about counting and never once has my vehicle been vandalized. Those are terrific odds if you ask me.

I am the one who first made the comment about changing demographics--and I stick by it--
I have lived here and shopped at NE mall for 20+ yrs--and it is changing...
I can't ignore what I see when I go
I do worry about groups/gangs of youths--some as young as 10-13-- in the mall without any adult supervision--most of them look like they have no object but to eat at the food court and act stupid with their friends-
they don't have any business there because they AREN'T shopping--they are using the Mall (out of the elements, out of their houses, out of supervision) to cruise around checking on friends, flirting, probably shoplifting---and in general getting in people's way...I imagine their parents or older brother/friend just dropped them off for the day--maybe don't even know they are there--

It used to be unusual to have shoppers from any ethnic group==not now--they are the majority of the strollers you see--especially at night the times I have been there

I don't care about the ethnicity necessarily--there used to be Anglo kids shoplifting and causing problems years ago-

but I would be happy to see more evidence of security guards especially during the week in daylight just as preventative measure--but think sales are down and the merchants don't want to pay for them...

have never had my car vandalized--but there are times when I am glad my husband is walking with me in the mall at night--and we don't go to the mall at night very often...
