Hey everyone,

I will be moving to Ft. Worth to attend UNT HSC for the next 4 years. I'm looking for a place to stay near the school.

I've done a drive around Ft. Worth but can't get a true say on where the safe neighbourhoods are...

First area I looked at was north of camp bowie, west of university and south of white settlement...it looked really run down.

The second area I looked at was South of 30 on the East side of Como park. I found a pretty descent townhome (Hulen Park Place - 3602 Eldridge) but now I'm hesitant since ya'll said Como is a bad neighbourhood.

That being the case, where would be a descent apartment for students around UNT area? What should I avoid?

Thanks so much. I will be up in Ft. Worth again Friday to get more information but any pointers will help!

In my opinion, the neighborhood north of Camp Bowie that you described is lovely. Old homes, very family-oriented. Some rental properties. Some really expensive homes. You could probably find a garage apt. there. Look in the Crestwood and Monticello neighborhoods.

Regarding the East of Como neighborhood: I would not want to live in or too close to Como, personally. There are some nice apts. near Central Market though, but be careful.

My daughter got a place off where Hulen crosses the Trinity. It is a two bedroom place in a gated community for less than $700 a month. You can shop around but avoid the Como area.

What apartment did she get? I will be up in Ft. Worth to go apartment shopping and would like to hit as many places as I can.

The complex is off Oakhill. There are several gated complexes in the area. Her particular "community" has a few quiet TCU students and does not take housing vouchers. The place is fairly quiet and peaceful.

Default Shot in the Dark

Hey there,
I will also be attending UNT for my masters this fall, and my apt plans fell through. I am rushing to find a roommate for this fall and spring. I am a 23 year old male, recent grad from A&M. Thought I would see if you were a male looking for a decent roommate attending UNT HSC. email me at camcarter2010@gmail.com
