Hello All!

I will be moving to Fort Worth in late May/early June for work, and wanted to know of some places to stay. I have been browsing the Internet, but it's pretty hard to depend on reviews as more people will go online to complain than to give praise.

I stayed in the Hurst area during my recent hotel stay, and the commute to Fort Worth (my job is out near Ridgmar Mall) wasn't so bad. I was looking for a place in, near, or west of Hurst, so I'm not making my commute to Fort Worth worse. Any suggestions? I am moving from Northern Virginia and can handle a rent of up to $1100, but would like to keep it under $900.

I am single with no children, so I have no preferences with regards to school districts or anything like that. I am a vegetarian, so being near a grocery store that is big on fresh produce would be amazing but not a deal breaker. My main concern is safety and how well the property is maintained. If possible, I would also like a two-level place (I've seen a few floorplans like this) for my treadmill. I don't want to disturb neighbors below me.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Dee

Is there a reason you want to stay around Hurst? If not, then you should check out Fort Worth itself: West 7th, Ridglea, Arlington Heights, etc.

Thank you! I'm not committed to Hurst, just thought the area was nice, with a nice shopping mall nearby. It was my first introduction to the area. I will check those spots out in Fort Worth as well. Thanks again!

Hurst is nice--live here myself--and there are lots of amenities around--restaurants, shopping, and it is easy drive into FTW, Southlake area or even Dallas if you want to do something there
new apt complex in NRHills off Hwy 26 that is built over retail ground floor--
and there are some town homes that might be rentals farther west in NRHills off West Tarrant

You might check out the So7/Sundance Sq area--problem is likely to be price point--
I think most rentals at 900 are likely few--but the 1100 might be more workable
you might also look around Hulen/Bryant Irwin area--
there is good grocery story in Hules area called Central Market
and there is Farmers Market in FTW on the traffic circle west of town--3821 Southwest Blvd
Cowtown Farmers Market

if you wanted bus tranport you would have to live in FTW and check your schedule--the FTW T is not as good as DART in Dallas and there is no bus service outside FTW basically

I do not have any names of the particular apartments in the area.

Being that your job is nearby Ridgmar Mall. You may consider Westworth Village or White Settlement.

Westworth Village:
This area is growing with new housing and businesses.
Multiple markets nearby on 183 north of I-30 (Ridgmar Mall area) such as Walmart, Target, Kroger and new development of housing just north of the mall as well. Note: The Naval Air Station's runway is just north of Ridgmar Mall. The noise level in the area during the military exercises that take place may be a concern as to where you want to reside.

White Settlement: West of the 820 loop has some apartment complexes that have opened up around Clifford Street/ Las Vegas Trail. There is a Walmart, Kroger, and Aldi's for your grocery needs.
Accessibility to the freeway is easy and a quick commute to work and other parts of community.

South Fort Worth:
There are multiple apartment complexes on the south side of the loop at Bryant Irvin and 820 by Hulen mall. Convenient to work, activities, multiple restaurants, pubs, shopping and other festivities.

Thank you all for your responses! I will check into all of those areas.

Are there any areas I should absolutely avoid? Any areas where crime is high (compared to the rest of the "metroplex")?

As far as west of 35 goes--the half of Fort Worth which would be best to live in if you work at Ridgmar--the most notable "unsafe" area is Como, and even with that said it ain't as bad as it used to be.

East of 35, Stop Six is also fairly rough.

We're relocating as well and found a place on Bryant Irvin. Newer apartments, lots of shopping, etc. nearby. Very convenient.

re your treadmill: All apartments here have fitness centers that are open either 24/7 or really long hours. I'd contemplate selling that and saving yourself some money in moving it!

Google Central Market in Fort Worth which is in Arlington Heights. That's a great location for your job and a cool area. zip code 76107, also good location is 76116. You can go to apartmentratingsdotcom and find places in those areas.
