Hope someone makes him feel welcome...

And maybe someone on the female side can make his mom feel welcome as well...

People like that are what I call scum of the earth. "Affluenza" my a**. He has a brain and knows what he did was wrong and he should be punished for it, regardless of his upbringing or environment. But no, he got off so light (probation? give us all a break!) the first time. Let's hope he now has to spend the remainder of his time in prison. If he manages to wiggle (pay) his way out of it this time, then our justice system is really flaunting it's nose at the rest of us.

As to his stupid mother who thinks she's protecting and helping her son, she seriously should be committed. She's done him no favors and is only toxic to hr son. Crazy woman.

I sincerely hope justice is served this time and Ethan Couch realizes he is responsible for his actions.

Brain, yes. Knows what he did was wrong? Doubtful. Kid strikes me as a sociopath.

And fleeing the country because of some photos of him partying only confirms his guilt.

At least probation revoke hearings are much less subjective to being lenient. He deserves the same sentence as the average income offender does.

In today's technological age, it's pretty funny that anyone would think they could flee the country and not get caught LOL. The only places that don't have extradition are not places you would ever want to go to anyway. Hopefully the little punk will get what he deserves this time around.

The most puzzling thing to me isn't that a rich kid gets away with murder, but that he and Mama are arrested in Mexico, probably the most corrupt country in North America, and can't buy their way out of it ??????

Considering they seem to be very well off, I would have gone to Brasil and immediately knocked up a local. Under Brazian law it's illagal to extradite a citizen or parent of a citizen of Brasil. Would live the rest of my days partying in rio. ( not saying it's right but if the end game was evading us law that's one of the best ways to go )

Anybody foaming at the mouth for him to spend more than a few months in jail is going to be disappointed. The most he can serve is 120 days from the time his case is transitioned out of the juvenile system. That's likely to happen in a few weeks. His next violation after that would be the one that would be pretty meaningful. He could have all 4 of the original suspended 10 year jail sentences stacked consecutively.

That is why the district attorney is going to petition to have his case moved to adult side vs juvenile side
At least that is what I understood from the press conference yesterday
If it is, then I think the two evasions--missing the meeting with probation officer and fleeing the country have more severe punishments...

Even if he just goes to jail for juveniles he is guaranteed to meet more hard core individuals than he met at the country club treatment center he was sentenced to initially

My question would be what has happened to that judge that allowed the "affluenza" defense--which has NO medical basis to support its use as a defense...
Is that person still on the bench???

And re the sophistication of the running away plan--
Neither of these people are smart--
The fact that they supposedly had a going away party is proof of that...
Read couple of stories about the family dynamics after the trial was concluded--
That is a sad sad situation but shows both parents were party to raising the boy to be narcissistic criminal--even if one has tried to wash his hands of the problem at this stage...

This in-depth article (from May) about Ethan and his family is a worthwhile read:

The Worst Parents Ever - D Magazine

A lot of the comments are more recent and reflect the latest developments.
