That's why I said near N/NW, as in inside the loop.

Around the city of crowley itself you can find pretty good places to live. But the north Crowley school district area is spotty.

Oh, I didn't know that part was bad. In any case, I live outside the loop, so I guess I'm safe ... for now!

My husband is set on moving to Fort Worth. The problem is we have no idea where to go. We don't know the area at all. We have an 8 year old son. Our main concern is finding a safe and good neighrhood with great schools. Please help! We are currently living in New York. We are tired of the hussle and bussle of this big city. We have lived in NY our whole lives and we definately need a change for the better. Crime is a big issue. I have this idea that Texas is filled with gangs and lots of crime. I hope I am wrong about this. We are considering a move sometime next year. Can anyone help?

Like with every big city Texas has it's share of the questionable but the good people far out number the bad.

Where you move in Fort Worth depends on how much you want to spend.

Places like Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake/Keller are great, safe places to live but the property values are significantly higher than those in Fort Worth proper.
Having said that, I just moved from an area west of down town FW and there was absolutely zero crime and an exemplary elementary school three blocks from the house.

Wasn't Fort Worth recently ranked as one of the best places to live in the US? It's got to be one of the safest cities.

Thank you so very much for your reply. I feel so much better about our decision. My husband and I want to plan a trip to FW. Where do you suggest we go first to look around? Any info you might have will be greatly appreciated. We are totally lost.

Again it's going to be based on the $$ amount you're wanting to spend for housing.
The house I mentioned above in west of FW was in the 100K range, the area we moved to, the houses are in the 180-200K range. It's hard for me to say any areas are worse than others because I'm third generation Fort Worth so I luv it all.

Some posts on here say that the Northside area of Fort Worth is a bad area but I grew up in it, yes being a white boy in Northside wasn't ideal but hey, such is life. I probably wouldn't recommend it though.

The West side of FW has older, more established neighborhoods, lots of trees, the river, tons of culture etc and a lot less traffic than the North east parts of FW.

North east has a lot more shopping, the airport, entertainment, newer (younger) neighborhoods but also a lot more people.

Out near Cityview in FW is growing like crazy too, might be something to look at as well.

I'm totally biased so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

Downtown FW is a blast at night, make sure to check it out when you're here.
