TCU Downtown Campus? (Austin, Fort Worth, Center: house, to buy, schools)

.... I just had a thought. I know TCC now takes up the space that Radio Shack left and uses it as its Trinity River Campus.

I like it.

What I would also like is for TCU to have at least part of it, say for.... architecture, maybe?

I'll upload pics (i honestly don't know when) later, but I have to say, this place shouldn't just be used by TCC..... no offense.

I'm not a fan of this sentence and what it implies. What's wrong with TCC? They are a public community college, a good one, IMO, that serves a much larger population than the 8,000 or so that go to TCU. IIRC, TCC has a student body close to 40,000. TCU has a beautiful campus that is more than adequate for its student body, and I'm not sure what use they'd have for a second location.

Furthermore, TCU should not just be allowed to use the building. If they wanted to have a downtown campus, they whould have to buy and pay for any part they would want to use just like any other private entity would.

Frankly I think they--the board of governors--spent WAY too much of MY taxpayer money to make such a high style campus for a bargain education--it was just something to enhance their image vs their education ability since you don't have to have a swank, cutting edge campus to teach English or anything else--

but TCU had the chance to get there first and did not bite
TCU does not want satellite campus IMO
they like their location and having all students get the TCU experience under the big oaks...

I get the feeling you're missing some of what I'm saying.

I'm not talking about the brand new building next to the court house (that's not even halfway done,btw), I was talking about the former Radio Shack campus.

I was implying that TCC shouldn't be the only school to use that and that IF TCU wanted to expand to downtown and add another college, they could share the campus... maybe even the newer one as well. And not just TCU, either. Maybe UNT, UTA, or any others that would want to join. Both campuses seem a bit too big for JUST TCC, in my opinion.

What I'm getting at is adding somewhat of a college atmosphere to downtown.

TCC's good, but why not add more schools?

I agree with loves2read, TCU just spent a gadillion dollars to enhance their campus. And it is spectacular! Why in the world would they want to have a downtown satellite? I can see Baylor or SMU doing something like that to broaden their graduate level education footprint in Tarrant County. New York's Cornell has a satellite campus here in Austin.

Might be a good location for the UNT Med School mentioned for Fort Worth. The TCC complex has close proximety to the Medical District.

Umm, UNT already has a Medical School in Fort Worth, it's called the UNT Health Science Center. It has been here since it opened in 1970.

Umm, you're partially right. UNT does currently have a Medical School in Fort Worth, and it's called the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The UNT Regents recently OK'd the establishment of a MD granting program at the UNT Health Science Center called UNTMD. The new school still has to be approved by the Texas State Legislature.
