Looking at lots in Tarrant County off 287 Business and also in Wise County (Rhome) off 287 and 114. Any info would be great.

You can always go to TAD.org for the Tarrant County Appraisal District. You also need to make sure that the lots you are looking at are either in the city or in an unincorporated portion. It makes a BIG difference.
We are building in Vista Ranch off of Business 287 where the tax rate is 2.53% we had originally planned out by Sendera area and that area was about 3.50%, so for us it was an annual savings of 4K a year in taxes. Sounds like college fund to me

Thanks. I live in Roanoke currently and pay Tarrant County taxes, but I can not tell on tad.org what the rates are and how much my taxes are. I can go onto Wise County and find them no problem.

I believe FW's tax rate is approx. 3%, maybe 3.1%. At least for its White Settlement and Saginaw areas, from when I was house hunting. 2.5% that Guingirl mentioned sounds nice!

Yep
One of the benefits, but we will be on well water (no water bill!!), aerobic septic and county ER services and sheriff. I think it is a good tradeoff - ohhh and we get great fireworks!

You can call the tarrant county tax collection. When I called she gave me the out of county taxes (northwest isd) so she was able to give me the specific rate of what our house will be when it is completed.

Yes, that is a good trade-off. On the downside, you'd be farther away from downtown - not sure if you hang out there. One of my coworkers lives in Haslet (sp?) and he also has well water, lower taxes, and a ton of land (over 1 acre).

Yes, that is what I am looking for, land, atleast 1 acre. I currently live in Roanoke now and work I35-I635 in Dallas, but the wife is a teacher at Northwest High School. Dont spend very much time in either downtown dallas or ft. worth.

Taxes
One of the benefits, but we will be on well water (no water bill!!), aerobic septic and county ER services and sheriff. I think it is a good tradeoff - ohhh and we get great fireworks!
