We are moving there this year and are looking to rent a single family house in Keller area with zoing for KMS and KHS or Southlake. Yes, I am looking at school districts, I would mention Trophy Club but from reading the posts it seems like a traffic nightmare. My husband will work near the Alliance Airport in FW. We want to rent for about a year before we buy but would like to be in the school district so that we are not switching our son yet once again... Can anyone recommend a property manager or place that I can research? I want to cap my monthly rental at 2400.00 a month.... AND just curious what about an apt complex do people w/ kids rent there for a limited time until they have a feel of the area, we haven't ever done this but then we have not ever lived in a city this size before. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You should be able to find a rental in the neighborhood behind the post office.
The other is the duplexes behind the police department. There was a duplex or two
that were up for rent a few weeks ago. I am not exactly sure on how someone from
out of town would get a listing unless a Realtor would be willing to scout some
individual rentals. Maybe the keller citizen/(newspaper) has the in the classifieds.

Southlake has not apartments. But will have rental homes some very nice ones too, but not sure in your price point.
Keller (for KMS and KHS) has some very nice apartments and townhouses in the zone. We have known families that live there while building houses or in between moves etc... The Art House is one, Dominion is another and then the is Stone? off Bourland.
There should be quite a few houses for rent or lease. But I only know to google with the RE listing etc to find those. There is one in my neighobrhood but we are ISMS and KHS (south of 1709)

However since the job is at Alliance Airport I would not cross Trophy club or Roanoke off the list.

check realtor.com
there are rentals there as well as homes for sale

rental homes in better districts are very desirable
there are many people in your situation coming to DFW for first time and many are chosing to rent for an initial period
prices for good homes are not cheap
114 from Trophy Club to Alliance area is bad because the road is narrow, and under construction

you also have to get on I35 N at some point I believe

check a map--find towns in proximity to Alliance and search on the forum
lots of posts about almost any of them
Northwest ISD is getting lot of positive press because of new high school but past history for academic excellence is not that great

Roanoke is town with growing restaurant district--getting lot of positive press about that too

area here might be very different from where you are moving from--
area around Alliance is the eastern most part of the Great Plains--lots of flat spaces, few trees, very wide open and from some vantage points all you can see is tract housing...not my favorite view

I am coming from NC, believe it or not our schools may not rank state wide as well as Texas however I have an academically bright son and want just like every other parent to give him a competitive great education. He is in the Duke tips here so I have read up and they have that in Texas I just need to make sure the hs he attends has that at their school, I didn't realize some schools don't?.... Also he plays travel ice hockey so that was the other reason for the school district for high school so he could play for his school just like dad lol.... if anyone is familiar w/ Cary, NC that is what I am looking for its a suburb of Raleigh and thought at one time we could move there since we are only 1 hour from there but the job market in NC is awful.

Yes, Keller participates in the Duke TIP program so thats not an issue with any of the schools you choose. (KMS is the top MS IMO. although my kids go to ISMS) They have the Pre-AP track at all Keller MS and you can also take some HS credit classes in MS.

Southlake Carroll ISD is the same as well. I would aldso think that NWISD does the same.

Hockey here is a club sport. Keller has a great team (state champs last year) The teams pull from all 4 HS and play under KHS colors.

Bramha Hockey is located in North Richalnd Hills for travel teams.

If you are OK with a 25-30 min commute, consider West Flower Mound. It has top rated public schools and a very kids/ family friendly town along with some master planned communities. There are very few apartment complexes but you can easily rent a house within your budget. I live in West FM and commute daily through Alliance Airport further south on I -35. It takes me 25- 30 mins to Alliance (approx. 16 miles) and the traffic is a breeze. FM is also more centrally located for future job perspective as well.
