What would be the typical easement for a back yard? I thought it was 5 feet from the property line/fence inward, but the City told me it was 7 1/2 ft. Is this correct?

different cities have different building codes--and depending on the individual lot/subdivision restrictions, there could be different kind of easements...
if there are electric lines OVER the lot--vs under--then they can also affect the easement dimensions

we know people who bought lot/house in NRHills and thought they had lot of land to build pool--that it would not have to right outside the back patio--but there was underground pipeline at the back of the lot and they had to build the pool between there and their patio--so while they have a deeper than normal lot in their neighborhood--there is pipeline easement to take into account....

each house transfer comes with (supposed to anyway) survey of property that shows your property lines and any easements that come with the lot...
