Did anyone read that story?
Happened on the Resort at Eagle Mtn Lake golf course--not that great a course--
Golfer stabbed in brawl at Eagle Mountain Lake golf course | Fort Worth | News from Fort...
there is audio of portion of the 911 call that was made on the ST link

Broken Club Critically Injures Springtown Golfer In Fort Worth « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

Happened Jan 27
The injured man was in threesome wanting to play through a slower foursome in front--which the course marshall apparently asked the forward group to allow...
someone in that group took exception to the request and a fight started...

Clay Carpenter--the injured man-- said that the person he was attacked by tried to hit him in the head with a club that he caught and he thought he broke the head off that club--which was then used to stab him in the groin.
Some reports say he was stabbed twice--meaning club was pulled out and used again--NOT an accident...
His femoral artery was cut--and he almost bled out on the course--
suffered pretty severe blood loss that could very well prevent normal motion/use of that leg...

The person quoted in the second linked article was in the slower 4some--who said he had gone ahead of the spot where the two groups were meeting...
said he turned when he heard commotion and saw the fight--went back and saw the guy on the ground bleeding and called 911--
he said he only knows the other guys in that 4some by first name--but sounded like they had played together before

What really surprises me is that according to the stories I have read the "attacker" has not been "identified" and thus has not been questioned...
I don't know why a police officer was not sent to the scene when the 911 call was received--
and why he hasn't been identified is difficult to understand as well--
you have to show ID when you take out a golf cart--they had to know who was on the course and the times they started...
and if they were regulars the marshalls know who they are...

One of the news reports said the gentleman that got stabbed with the club may lose his leg.
This is an unfortunate situation by any means. The person who did this should be held accountable.

Wonder what his handicap will be when all is said and done?

not funny

this guy could have died out there--not close to any hospitals/ERs
being stabbed in the femoral artery is a serious injury--it is one of the most difficult arteries to stop the bleeding because it is so deep into the body
It makes me wonder if the guy doing the stabbing knew what he was doing--
the man was stabbed twice--that is not just an accident when it goes past 1

and you have to wonder how interested the Sheriff's dept is in finding the perps since no one has been tracked down yet...

there was probably some drinking going on with cart girls going around--
makes me wonder too if the Resort might be reluctant to cooperate because of "overserving" the people in question

I have to agree, this one is being swept under the rug fairly quickly. The news has not
reported any further details about this incident.

The man who was injured did not want to release his name initially because he was afraid of reprisals by the guy who stabbed him--
makes me think that they do know each other more than was first related...
from my husband's experience as a golfer...when you play the same course on regular basis you do have casual friendships with lots of people who play during your times...
so these guys "could" have had run-ins before about this same situation...

and one or two of the articles--but not everyone--mentioned the likelihood that alcohol was involved...

Just goes to show you how ignorant people who golf can get! For crying out loud it is only a game and to many take it way to serious!

My husband has played golf since he was 7 yrs old--
believe me, the aberrant behavior on that golf course had nothing to do with golf and everything to do with men who are bullies and borderline psychos who probably have a serious drinking problem--
none of which have anything to do with golf per se...

much more violence tied to other contact sports like football, hockey, soccer
even tennis
