I'm thinking about renting an apartment home in Hurst, Bedford or NRH. i don't know about those areas at all... Could someone please tell me what are places that I should avoid in terms of safety, crime, etc? By the way, I want to be close to a public library too. I work in downtown FW, so that I have a short commute to work if I rent in these areas... Thanks so much!

Bedford city Library is located right off Forest Ridge and Don Dodson--there are some apt complexes w/in walking distance there...seem pretty nice

Hurst Library is on Precinct Line between Pipeline and Bedford Euless RD--not any apts in that area

Euless Library is right off 183--don't think there are apts close (at least nice ones)

The only apartments in the area near the Hurst library are not very good ones. There are some duplexes in the area though for rent that aren't bad. They are on the west side of the park.

I used to live in the 76021 zip code (in apts). It's a very good area with lots of choices. Bedford has a lot of nice apartments, especially north of 183.

Default Hurst, Bedford and NRH

Look in the Sunday paper and you will see that for petty crime, Bedford has many more incidents than Hurst or NRH. Most of the crimes tend to be against apartment dwellers. I would make my home in Hurst.

Are there any data that's available for the public? Anybody know of a website for this by zip code? Thanks, CR

call the police dept in each town and ask about the problem areas---where do they make more burglary calls, car theft, assaults, criminal mischief...

My sister in law cried when they started building apartments along Central drive in Bedford back in the early 80's. They had just purchased a very nice home off Harwood, and she was certain apartments and the crime and low life they brought with them, would run her property values down.
It wasn't as bad as she thought, but if you check the police blotter in the paper as stated above, the crime areas are near those apts.
The thing about apts is, anybody that can afford one, can live there.....almost.
Look for one that has security gates, and at least does a credit check before renting. Covered parking is nice too. Especially in Texas in the summer.
I lived at Castlewinds in NRH for a couple of years after my divorce. My daughter lived there for about six months just two years ago. You would think they would have run down, but they didn't. They have taken very good care of the property.
The NRH library is at Rufe Snow and 820. Not exactly walking distance unless your in good shape.
The train to downtown stops at Handley Ederville and 121. Probably 1.5 or two miles from the apts.
not a bad area overall.
