Hello all, I have some questions about the HEB areas. What would the commute be like to Southlake and/or Addison? I have been looking around online at homes that I could afford and like, however, I would be working in Southlake for a few months and then go to Addison for good for my job. (transferring from here to those two places). The area I am looking at seems to be a central place or "right in the middle", so to speak. Any thoughts on Bedford? (I found a house almost exactly like the one I own now, which I love). Any information/advice is greatly appreciated!!

I've lived in Bedford for all but about 10 months of the last 14 years and I've always liked it. You can't really go wrong in any neighborhoods north of Airport Fwy. and especially north of Harwood. Quiet, crime is nothing more than isolated incidents that you'll find in any area, good streets, fantastic library, and a city government that is at least intent on improving things. And you're right about it being in the middle. We can get to downtown Fort Worth, Grapevine, the Ballpark in Arlington, and parts of Irving in well less than 30 minutes. My wife commutes to Southlake and usually can make it in around 15 minutes without ever getting on the freeway. I wouldn't say that commuting to Addison is going to be the best part of your day, but it is probably manageable, especially once the major freeway construction in Grapevine winds down in the next year or so. 635 in north Dallas (on the south edge of Addison) is in the early stages of a similar reconstruction, but that's probably only going to impact the last 1/4 of your commute, if that.

wow... only 15 mins to Southlake?? That's GREAT... it takes me that long just to get to the freeway to go to work, which is another 30-45 mins at least and its only 18-22 miles to work, depending which routes I take! We are very spread out here in Houston, but I like to drive anyways (most of the time, LOLOL). What is the scenario to Addison? I have looked and looked all over the city online, and it just seems to be that HEB/Bedford area which appeals to me the most. I haven't had a chance to really get up there and check things out myself in person, but will soon! I am not a fan of renting and moving again and again, its a big step for me, since I have lived here for over 13 years and I'm excited and nervous. But I did find a house that is affordable and is almost exactly what I am living in now, so that's a big plus in my book. Any other pointers/tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Oh, forgot to mention, the Addison location I would be working at is right off Beltline.

I second this poster's opinion. Another thing that I enjoy about our quiet nondescript little town is how well our holiday events and celebrations are attended and enjoyed by those of us inclined to do so. Lots of wholesome fun here in Bedford .
