I am female and in my early 20s and this will be my first time moving to a town on my own! I will move to North Fort Worth for a job in Tarrant County near the intersection HWY I-35W and 820.

From my research, there are alot of crimes on the east side of tarrant county? That's why I've been looking into Watuga and North Richlands Hills. Do you guys have any opinions on that. I also prefer to live on north side of HWY 820 because my friends told me its safer.

What is the estimate cost of living? I currently live in a college town renting in a really nice, and fairly new apartment for $550 including everything. I got a great deal with this one thanks to my roommates.. I understand that this is not the same for any other places.

I am planning to rent an apartment 1bedroom/1bathroom. I thought about having my budget at $600-$725 for apartment not including utility, electric, etc. What would be an estimate for utility, electric, etc BILLS too?

Do you guys have any suggestions on any good apartments.. and any other areas or advice you can give me?

Thank you!

There are lots of apartments near the intersection of Beach St. and Western Center Blvd on padmapper (basically the Fossil Creek area), but I can't speak for how affordable or how good they are. The area is relatively safe. Most if not all of the apartment complexes around there have gates, but I can't say whether that means there's crime around there at night or not. I've only been around that area in the day, really.

Sorry I can't be of too much help.

Your friends are correct that the areas north of 820 are safer. Northeast Tarrant itself is mostly by nice and safe. Watauga is one one of the few older, less nice suburbs. Honestly, I would look at NRH and the fossil creek area mentioned earlier. Those are the most convenient to your work, and they have lots of nice apartments.

The crime-prone areas are in the east side of Fort Worth, like along I30 and just south. Those areas wouldn't be convenient to your work anyway...
