We are moving from Georgia and know nothing about Fort Worth. Employment will be near I-20 & I-35W about 8 miles south of the center of town. Here are our desires in order of priority:

Distance - less than 30 minute commute time
Schools - Top notch public schools for elementary through High school
Neighborhoods with kids and community pool
4-5 BR house, 3,000 - 4,000 sq ft
Priced under $350k
Would like a 1/2 acre lot but most seem smaller.

Cities I have found online include Mansfield, Aledo, Burleson and Benbrook but would like a locals opinion.

Thanks for ANY advice.

Look in the south and southwest parts of Fort Worth. The areas that feed into Paschal HS are the best. Neighborhood names are Tanglewood and Bluebonnet Hills.

All 4 of the ones you mention are suburbs. Of the four, Aledo is the better one.

I don't live in Texas but Mansfield has been voted in the top 100 small cities to live in.

Aledo is too rural for me. If that's what you're looking for then it's good.

This sounds like Alcon, or very near. If you search for Alcon on this board you will come up with multiple threads about house hunting and working at Alcon (or near there).

Of Mansfield, Aledo, Burleson, Benbrook, it would be Aledo regarded as having the better schools generally (well, at least compared to Burleson & Benbrook...I'm not up to date with Mansfield).

In Aledo you can easily get 1/2 acre lot.

The problem would be a neighborhood with a community pool. Not many of those out here.

Also, the commute. Depending on "where" in Aledo (the town of Aledo is pretty small but when people say Aledo they generally mean the Aledo ISD area which is much larger and includes lots of unincorporated areas) the 30 minute commute might not be under 30, it might be slightly over 30.

The more popular Fort Worth suburbs are in Northeast Tarrant county. The southern areas with good access to Alcon are all somewhat unique, each with their own pluses and minuses. You'll want to do your homework.
