West 7th, west of downtown, is kind of the equivalent to Uptown. Lots of restaurants and new apartments.
West 7th :: UNIVERSITY DRIVE NORTH AND WEST 7TH ST., Ft. Worth, TX. 76107 ::
Magnolia Avenue, south of downtown, is more akin to Deep Ellum or Bishop Arts. Low-rise older architecture and more hipster.

There are also some places to live downtown with lots of young professionals, like The Depot, among many others.
