No. I would have them come install it.

I would go with a locally owned store. Having been in the business for 40 years before retirement, I think you get better service from the local stores. The horror stories from HD and Lowes, number in the thousands.

Have you read the fine print with Lowes/HD installations? You contract with the installer and have to settle all issues with him. Been there; will not go that route again. We went with a local company when we had all carpet removed and have been very pleased with work/workers/follow up.

I have to agree that if it is a significant amount of carpeting, find a local. If its just a tiny room its not that big a deal and either one would work.

Go local-we had HD do some work in our old house-the carpet looked good and wasn't cheap but the installation was appalling -the seams separated quickly they didn't even tuck it under the baseboards properly-then all around the edges it all started buckling because they hadn't stretched it properly-we ended up getting a real expert carpet installer in the correct all the problems...he even commented that the carpet was nice but wouldn't last to long with everyday wear and tear

We just redid all of our carpet and went with a local. We got better quality carpet at a lower price than offered through Home Depot or Lowes. Initially their prices may seem lower per square foot, but they add on charges for removal, moving furniture, separate price for carpet pad, etc. that were all included in the carpet stores price.

Yep, they even charge by the foot to install tack strip. I have never seen anyone else do that.
