We contracted a national chain to maintain our grass when we moved in in 2011.

First year - improvement in the front and we completely re-sodded the back. Extensive landscaping has reduced the amount of grass to 50% of the surrounding properties. Second year - ok. Third year - very iffy at best, in August/September we had blooming weeds (not the occasional dandelion), promised courtesy treatments did not happen but we were bombarded with very slick sales calls along the line "we will be by to do this or that" (only persistent questions brought the answer of "for XZY$"). I finally contacted the corporate offices in Ohio. Not ten minutes later did I get a call from the local service manager. He came by and treated everything himself and assured me to call him should I have any issue and I would get a 1/2 off treatment as courtesy.

The courtesy credit is not on the account. He has not returned two messages on his cell phone. I received a garbled message by a technician that he will treat today. The office told me it does not matter that I have not renewed the contract as it renews automatically.
