I think of my late husband who was born there. And I think about moving back to TX from AZ to Weatherford or somewhere in the surrounding areas. Just a small 2-3 br with a little land, maybe 1/2 - 1 acre. I lived there briefly in 1976, and I would really like to live in that area again. Although a friend I worked with told me to check out his hometown in Stephenville.

Weatherford is the western gateway to paradise. Mineral Wells a little further west is such a strange city. It is flat, but has hills that intrude into the city. There are world famous fifty foot tall cliffs at Mineral Wells State Park which mountain climbers frequent to practice. Mineral Wells use to be the poor man's version of Hot Springs Arkansas. Further west is the paradise of Lake Possum Kingdom. It is surrounded by small mountains and has the purist water in Texas.

I think "sprawl". I remember when Weatherford was a quaint little town and it was a job to take a Sunday drive there for lunch.

No more, traffic, the typical surburban stores, ect.

If I'd read this and didn't know the area I would be picturing a place a heck of a lot more impressive than it actually is. Way too much hyperbole and homerism in this post!

I think of a small rural mostly white town that attracts people from FW who have become disgusted that the 800k populated city is rapidly becoming or acting like an 800k populated city so they move out to Weatherford for a change of pace, more space, decent law&order, and good schools.

I think I passed through there once but it's way too far from the metro for me to keep going back.

Weatherford is a nice quaint town that's been growing over the years. Land is still cheaper out there than other places in the metroplex. I like to call it rural surburbia.
