We are moving to SW Fort Worth in a couple of weeks. We currently have medicare advantage through Kaiser Permanente here in California. What are my options for Medicare in Texas. We currently only have to pay $15 copays to see the doctor, and small amounts for other services. I have searched the net, but have not found anything comparable. Help!!

There's no Kaiser in Texas. Be careful of United Healthcare...

I am aware that Kaiser is not available in Texas. I was hoping someone liked the plan they were in. All I read on the net are horror stories. Are there any good HMOs or should I stick to original Medicare? There is so much conflicting information that it is frustrating. The best option appears to be the AARP Secure Horizons.

Medicare Advantage plans are in use in the state--
that is an option for retired texas teachers eligible for Medicare who have insurance through Teacher Retirement System --

there are some retired teachers who opted to take it as supplemental insurance--
I have read that the Advantage plan offered to retired teachers differs in some respects from the one offered to non-teachers...I don't know specifics since we stayed with the TRS insurance as supplemental vs the Advantage...

you should be able to go online--medicare.gov site maybe--and put in a FTW zipcode to see various plans offered...

Secure Horizons is probably your best option.
