These pics are nice, but to get a real sense of the diversity of Fort Worth you should check out this site. MoreThanPorches | Porches, Yards, Decks, Landscaping and more… Its pretty much dedicated to pictures of Fort Worth homes, yards etc...

Some recent photos of mine:

Wisteria-Covered Pergola, Fort Worth Botanical Garden by StevenM_61, on Flickr
The Botanical Garden in Spring.

Endangered Landmark: Dillow House by StevenM_61, on Flickr
The Dillow House, a landmark in the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood that unfortunately is in danger of demolition. Texas Wesleyan University wants to demolish the house so it can redevelop the block it's on.

Old Vacant House, Samuels Avenue, Fort Worth by StevenM_61, on Flickr
The Getzendaner House on Samuels Avenue north of downtown, which is currently undergoing restoration. Samuels Avenue has some of Fort Worth's last remaining 19th Century houses, and the Getzendaner House, dating to about 1885, is one of them.

Queen Anne style House, Samuels Ave., Ft. Worth by StevenM_61, on Flickr
The Victorian Queen Anne style William B. and Lula Garvey House on Samuels Avenue. The house, which is in need of restoration, is currently for sale for $2 million.

Victorian Italianate style House, Samuels Ave. by StevenM_61, on Flickr
The Bennett-Fenelon House on Samuels Avenue. The Victorian Italianate style house, built about 1875, is the last such house in Fort Worth and among the city's oldest buildings.

It seemed like a good idea to update the fate of some of these endangered Fort Worth historic houses since 2013. The landmark Dillow House, a Polytechnic Heights (in east Fort Worth, popularly known as "Poly" by locals) was completely lost in a suspicious fire last year. The Getzendaner House at 760 Samuels Avenue, (below the Dillow House photo) has been totally renovated with a wrap-around porch added around the side but retaining the Victorian flavor. It was authentic enough to earn the owners a local historic preservation award in 2014. The towered Queen Anne style W.B. Garvey house at 769 Samuels Ave. from the 1890's remains waiting for someone to rescue and restore it but perhaps the best news is that it is now priced at $750,000 (down from the original $2 million) and that price includes acreage and Trinity River frontage at the back. The Bennett-Fenelon House at 731 Samuels, is nicely landscaped and the pride of the neighborhood.

Update May 19: Endangered 1890's Queen Anne style William B. Garvey House at 769 Samuels (a City of Fort Worth landmark and Recorded Texas Historic Landmark with a historical marker) has been reduced to $600k in hopes of attracting someone willing to save it from further decline. The vacant lots next door are still listed for $1 million for development. The Garvey House has Trinity riverfront access and its plat shows 2.5 acres reduced to 1.5 with utility and flood plain easements.
