I'm thinking about getting an apartment in downtown Fort Worth near work. I hear there is a train that goes from FW to Dallas? Would this be something that feasible to use to go out to dinner , nightlife etc in Dallas occasionally? Just wondering if its way too expensive, dirty , disgusting or dangerous.

I find it very clean and nice. It's not the fastest way to travel, though. It takes just under an hour to get from downtown to downtown whereas driving takes around 30 minutes so long as there's no traffic. The last train to Fort Worth also leaves Dallas around 9:30 or 10:00 so you wouldn't be able to stay out at a bar or club really late and still take the train home.

It is a good and reliable transportation option. I use it somewhat regularly from the Richland Hills station.

I used to ride it from Centreport to Fort Worth occasionally. It was always clean, safe and convenient. It's good to take to a game at the AAC, but other than that, it's really more convenient for commuters.

I agree, the TRE between FW and Dallas is great for commuting and games at the AAC.

It terminates at Union Station in Dallas, so it is 1/2 mile to the West End and about a mile from most downtown Dallas restaurants. So, in addition to the early departure times not really that convenient to many nightlife activities.

There is a terminal in downtown FTW outside Sundance Sq--
you just need to check the times for leaving Dallas since several times people have commented about going to a Mavs game and missing that last train...

I've always found it clean, safe, and convenient, but I think my standards are probably different than others here since I would say the exact same thing about the NYC subway system.

We used it once to go to the AAC for an event. It's been several years back, but at that time, it was nice and clean and we had no problems, it all went smooth. The train was there when we left the AAC and we just walked right on, no waiting and it wasn't long before we were on our way back to Fort Worth. Easy, peasy.
