I am relocating to the Fort Worth area and I don't know anything about the area. I lived for years outside of Houston and now I am moving from West Texas. I don't know anyone from Fort Worth so I am looking for some help on which areas are really nice and safe and which areas to steer away from.

I am a single young woman looking for an apartment preferably close to work. I will be working in Downtown Fort Worth and really don't want to have a bad commute.

I am looking for nice apartments, in the 1200-1700 range give or take in a nice area and safe area.

What are the nicest and safest areas in Fort Worth, preferably somewhat close to downtown??

Thanks so much

Look along Hulen Street just west of downtown. There are lots of nice apartments after you cross the big bridge over the railroad yard. Commute to downtown will be maybe 15 minutes.

Yeah, I agree with above...look at the West Seventh area...literally just west of downtown...on a map, it would loosely be from the intersection of 7th and Henderson to 7th and University. Lots and lots of new construction (apartments and condos) and restaurants and shops. The one downside here is there is still no grocery store very close by as far as I know.

Also as ChristieP mentions, along Hulen. The big bridge over the railroad yard is basically at Hulen & Vickery streets on a map and there are some apartments in that area down to the intersection of Hulen & Bellaire. I forget the name, but there is a nice looking complex just behind the Tom Thumb grocery store. I've seen it when I've walked my dog along the river and it would be a good location in my opinion. A couple restaurants close by...the grocery store and a Trader Joe's, plus right up against the Trinity with a nice walking/jogging trail.

Hmm...I think it does actually. Just never crosses my mind to remember it as a grocery store!

It is a Super Target and has a good selection of groceries. If you need bigger/better, there is a Central Market at Hulen and 30 that's just 10 minutes away.

Thanks. What about areas a little away with less than a 30 minute commute? Some of the nice areas around fort worth? Thanks.

The Hulen area, near TCU, and West 7th are the nicest parts of Fort Worth.

Do be careful along Hulen though- some parts are safer than others. Stay away from Hulen Mall. I would focus N of 20 and south of 30 if that makes sense.
