Hello! I plan on moving to the Fort Worth/Dallas area in a few months and would love your advice on areas I should look to move to and areas I should beware of living or frequenting. I am a single mom with a young teen. I work from home, so I wouldn’t have much of a commute but will start looking at possible job opportunities in the area after getting settled in. I will be renting and would like a 2 bedroom townhome, loft or apartment under $800 per month in a decent area near a great high school. The neighborhood is very important to me since I will be home majority of the time, so safety is of great importance to me. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated!

For $800 your options are limited, a townhome or loft would probably be out of the question as those (a studio), from the areas I can think of, start at $950 for a studio and go into the thousands...your only option would be an apartment. Being that you have a son, I would say the suburbs (North Richland Hills, Lake Worth, Saginaw, White Settlement Benbrook, Burleson, River Oaks etc...) would be your best bet. Just stay away from "Forest Hill" or the (76140, 76119, and 76105 zip codes and you should be fine anywhere else).

Bringamac is right. Check your school district options on-line, but suburbs are probably your best bet. We moved downtown from Crowley & I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but Burleson is still pretty good, as is Saginaw. Best of luck & welcome!
