Hello,

I'm moving to Fort Worth. I would like to find a doctor there before I leave my home city (ABQ). The university here has several clinics around town. Then you just pick which doctor/clinic you want. Clinics can do a lot of services like blood work. I've called a few practices in Fort Worth. They have given me the impression that most doctors are working solo.

Is there a "university hospital network system"? Is it any good? Are doctors there good? Or do you have to drive to Dallas for a decent doctor?

Hi. I do know the type of setup you refer to since when I lived in Raleigh, NC I used the Duke (University) Health system clinics. And while there is a Baylor hospital in Fort Worth, it has not seemed to me that there is a similar setup. However, I have not looked into whether there is currently a clinic system associated with Baylor.

That said, there are good doctors in Fort Worth and unless you need a specific type of specialist I can't really see the need to drive over to Dallas. And as far as I have seen, there are several multi-practice/clinic system groups around and several can do bloodwork.

For example, MCNT (Medical Clinics of North Texas) is one which my parents have used. And at least the doc's I have taken my dad to see have an on-site lab for bloodwork. MCNT does have a website you can check out at mcnt.com. Also, there are offices associated with THR (Texas Health Resources, texashealth.org). This is the group basically previously known as the Harris Hospital group. They do have a physician's group for their docs. I don't have any experience with them myself though, yet. The physician's group website is thpg.org.

Anyway, there are definitely "clinic systems" around. I'm sure some others can chime in.

Fort Worth doesn't have a MD medical school...yet. So, no university health system here. The Texas Health system has lots of clinics and throughout Tarrant County.

There a lot of good Doctors and hospitals in Fort Worth. The University of North Texas health science center is located in Fort Worth near the cultural district, and they have partnered with Texas Christian University for a Medical School. UNT also offers a PA program there. I have a client who's daughter attends. Harris seems to be the preferred hospital for adults, while Children's Hospital is an excellent pediatric hospital. Were you looking for a specialist? I can provide some recommendations.

I'm looking to a traumatic brain injury neurologist. One of my family members was in a really bad car accident.

Dr Roger Blair, Dr Thomas Leavens, or Dr Vinit Mehrotra, all in the hospital district of Fort Worth are all recommendations from my medical field friends. I hope this helps.
