I am being transfered to a unit at NAS Fort Worth and was wondering if anyone can recommend any of the near by area to look at for homes in the near by areas. I have young kids getting ready to go into Elem. school and one in Middle school so good schools are important. Also, how bad is the commute time if I chose to live closer to Weatherford? Any info would be appreciated as I am trying to plan a trip to the area coming up in the next month or so.

Definitely AVOID White Settlement. It is not a nice area (very blue collar, and not in a good way) and the schools are not the best.

Look north towards Eagle Mountain Lake, or West to Weatherford. Much better areas and better schools.

Hubby and I are re-locating from N.CA We checked out many schools last week. Our favorites.........Hatfield Elementary and Pike Middle School. 1st impression..............Wow. < -----Northwest ISD has really impressed us. Hatfield and Pike are across the street from each other. High School is located there as well. Located in Justin, Texas
Hubby will be working down the road from you. ... at Lockheed I believe it is about 25-30 minutes. Nothing like San Diego traffic (our grown kids live there)

northwest ISD covers a large area and is a good solid school district. There are homes on acreage as well as neighborhoods that the school district encompasses. The only HS right now is in Justin but the new one in Trophy club will open in 2009 I believe.
Sendera Ranch is one neighborhood within NWISD that would be close for your husband I believe. nice houses.

I would also look at Aledo, The McDavid subdivsions are very nice and the school district has a solid rep. town of Annetta is in Aledo ISD and some of Weatherford.

I don't think the eastren part of weatherford would be too bad of a comute. But I don't know much about the ISD.

How is the commute from the Justin area towards the base? It looks like it's about a half hour away but with traffic will that add a lot of time to the drive?

I currently live in Sendera ranch and love it. You could easily get to the base in about 25 minutes. Also a part of Northwest ISD is an area off of Bonds Ranch Road. New homes are being built there. I had a friend whose husband worked at the base and they lived in our neighborhood. Homes in Sendera start around at low 100's (although there are plenty of foreclosures and you could get a good deal). Off of Bonda Ranch road start in the low 100's all the way up to 300's.

Hi Chico08, what unit are you transfering to? My husband is stationed at MCAS Miramar and we will be there this summer, going out in 2 mos to look for a home to buy. We have been ALL over the board trying to determine where we want to live, trying to juggle commutes, schools, my job, home size, yard size, neighborhoods, its crazy. We also considered Weatherford and Aledo, but right now we are concentrating on the Keller Area. But the way it looks we might change our mind , AGAIN!

Marinewife91,
I am going to transfer to VMFA-112. I'm hoping to make a trip to the area in April or May to start looking. Hopefully by then I'll know which area I'd like. I've been bouncing back and forth between a few.
