3. Horizons at Sunridge (more foot traffic, more crime, and a short walk away from bad apartment complexes)
Thanks for the suggestions. I looked at a few complexes off Dottie Lynn/Green Oaks, but most of the reviews were really bad. Brentwood Apartments and Chase Apartments were the two names I remember.

Windsong Apartments look decent. A 2br is the same price I pay for a 1br here in Arlington.

Even though I can afford more, I simply refuse to spend more than $1000 on rent because for around $1250, I could have a mortgage in my target price range.

It's really a shame that you can't get a decent priced, safe apartment in DFW. In most of the Midwest, less expensive apartments were just as safe as the more expensive apartments, they just weren't new and up to date. I figured I just needed to pony up the extra $$$ here in DFW to avoid having my car broken into.

Your "decently priced" is totally related to your budget...and the lid you have self-imposed
Market values drive pricing...
Wages aren't driven by same values...

And personally I would not choose the eastern side of FTW
If you want cheaper/safer then be willing to drive farther

East Fort Worth is not somewhere I would ever live. You did not mention where exactly your job is located. Southwest Fort Worth would probably be your best bet. Your budget is very low. Unfortunately will all the people moving here for jobs this has driven up the cost of living. Anyone expecting to get a decent apartment for under 1k a month will be disappointed. Good luck! You might try an apartment locator service to help you. They are free to use.

I go to the Target, Walmart, and Sams up near Eastchase Pkwy in Fort Worth sometimes and it's definitely not the best part of town. My awareness alert radar is pretty much on high the entire time I'm in that Walmart.

OP might consider living in West Arlington. It's a very safe area and my 1br apartment is a little less than $1000/mo. There are some cheaper options which are safe, but just not as nicely maintained.

I agree. The Eastchase area can be sketchy. I also stay alert when I am in that area.

A single female should not live in east Fort Worth, especially in the Woodhaven area. The houses near the golf course are nice, but the apartments are a hotbed of crime.

I suggest the apartments in between the Bryant Irvin Rd, 183 and Vickery Rd Triangle. Another option is the apartments south of 183 along Bryant Irvin Rd. I'd suggest the former since it's next to one of the best running/biking trails in the area. You could also do the Hulen area by Trader Joe's, but the train noise annoys some folks.

Default Housing

Did you check on Hillside or Hunter Plaza, both downtown area.

I know you can get something for 900-1000 there.

If you qualify, they offer less than market rate apts.
