Hello everybody I'm a 25 year old female that just got offered a job in Fort Worth and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for safe areas or apartment complexes to live In. I also have a 40 pound dog, so dog friendly is a must as well. I would stretch my max rent to 800 but would love to keep 700 or below. I am really nervous as I would be moving out here with no family or friends. Thank you!

Where in Fort Worth? Even a zip code would help...

Hillside or Hunter Plaza. Rents are about 1000 for a one bedroom. If you are low income you may qualify for a rent subsidy.

It would depend on location as FW is a very large city. It took me 50 minutes to get from what part of fw to another, no traffic or stops.

I'm not too sure what rent cost but I would expect anything on the deep north side to be "safe".

One piece of advice that always saved me was to check out the common areas of the apt complex to see how well kept it is. Also check the vehicles in the parking lots. If they are clean, newer model, and well kept vehicles, the apt is most likely okay.

Good luck! I was also trying to keep my budget in the $700-800 price range for a 2br. I couldn't find a single place in that price range that seemed safe.

For that budget, you might be better off trying to get lucky and find a garage apartment in one of the historic neighborhoods. I've been out of the rent game for almost 10 years, so I'm not sure how much things have changed, but I rented a few back in the day and much preferred it over an apartment; if you can get over living behind your landlord. It was always much cheaper, too. Just an idea/something to look out for. Try Fairmount, Arlington Heights, Monticello, around TCU, Meadowbrook, these all have old homes that sometimes have detached living quarters.

Enclave at Cityview runs about 700 for a 1 BR, and 1000 for 2. That part of SW Fort Worth is nice, and I am from South and SW Fort Worth

Try eastchase area of east fort worth. The apts are hit or miss but yo may be able to find something good and at that price. Also try the Hulen Mall area. Again, hit or miss but maybe. Just take notice of how well kept the areas are and if the cars on the premises are newer model and taken care of. If not, run... Id also drive through the apt on a friday evening between 6p-8p to see what the foot traffic looks like before taking a dive

I actually considered moving there. It would be a quick drive down 30 for me to get to work. You're right, the apartments were a hit or miss, but they were definitely cheaper than most areas.

If I had to stay in that area ... I'd only consider three apartment complexes

1. Windsong Apartments (low foot traffic, not crime ridden, quiet and kind of out of walking range to bad apartments in the area)

2. MillStone Apartments (same as above, also kind of out of the way and secluded)

and a distant third..

3. Horizons at Sunridge (more foot traffic, more crime, and a short walk away from bad apartment complexes)
